Christian Parenting Books :
When I was a young mother, it seemed that the only parenting books that focused on Christian principals were written by James Dobson. I found them essential for my early parenting days. I was a single mother from when my oldest son was 5mo old.
Today these same books are available and still pertinent. As Christians we know that our Lord is the same yesterday, today, forever. These updated and current Christian Parenting Books have helped thousands of parents to guide their Children with Christ’s Loving Principals. The Christian principals have not changed over the years, but have been made more available through Christian parenting books.
1. James C. Dobson: Parenting isn’t for Cowards:
This book says it all in the title. Parenting young ones with intent and purpose is hard work. However, with the help of James Dobson we have someone in our corner that understands the ropes. Check out this book along with my next suggestion by the same author.
2. James C. Dobson: Parenting Collection:
The New Dare to Discipline, The New Strong-Willed Child, and Parenting Isn’t for Cowards, all wonderful Christian Parenting Books.
This is where the value is. If you are looking for a book that is all inclusive with basic parenting and hard to handle situations, this book is for you. It is a compilation of James Dobson’s top Christian parenting books and includes: The New Dare to Discipline, The New Strong-Willed Child, and The book afore mentioned, Parenting isn’t for Cowards.
3. Parenting by the Book: Biblical Wisdom for Raising Your Child, John Rosemond
John Rosemond explains that if you raise your children to love and obey the Lord, the parenting should virtually take care of itself. That is an over statement of course but it is true, a Christian home filled with Christian love is the perfect environment to raise young Christians that have guidance by the Spirit of God within them.
“happy, emotionally healthy children who honor their parents and their families with good behavior and do their best in school”. John Rosemond.
By reading Christian parenting books we can strive to have the same goals.
I bought this book for my son-in-law who is always seeking for the Christian way to raise his child. Consequently, he is raising my granddaughter with love and understanding.
I also bought a copy for myself.
4. The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate
In the 5 Love Languages, Gary Chapman unlocked the secret of meeting the spiritual and emotional needs of your partner and family. If you learn the principals of the 5 Love Languages you will be able to connect with people in your family, and out. I have not covered this book enough. But I will revisit it soon.
These next two books,
5. The 5 Love Languages of Children
6. 5 Love Languages of Teenagers
may well be the key to a happy home. I have immersed myself in the concept and find it fun to find and address the Love Language of my family and friends. This collection has definitely made all the difference for me. I understand myself better and my children and grandchildren.
7. Christian Parenting Handbook : Scott Turansky
This book is broken into 50 short chapters that address different situations in parenting. It is a reference book and a handbook. Children of all ages including teens up to 18 are served by Godly principals and Heart-Based tips for parenting aimed directly to them.
8. Parenting Teens with Love and Logic: Jim Fae and Foster Cline
Oh are not the teen years a bundle of fun? As a mother on the other side I can attest that “This too shall pass”. However the parenting is is not finished. Preparing Adolescents for Responsible Adulthood includes so many aspects of adult life. Jim Fae and Foster Cline have hit the nail on the head with this wonderful book. Parenting Teens with Love and Logic has earned it’s place in my list for sure. This Godly teaching to teens fits along with the short series we covered on teaching money management, preparing them emotionally for college, and the post Should you Pay for your Teen’s College?
9. Grace Based Parenting, Forward by: Max Lucado, Tim Kimmel, author
